Today was the 31st Annual Mayor's Turkey Day Run at Kenosha Museum on the Lakefront. As in true Anchor Fitness form we showed up ready to take Kenosha by storm and show them how to do it Anchor Fitness style. With  one of the largest number of registrants, we were a sight to behold styling and profiling in our Red Anchor Fitness shirts and black pants displaying exactly what we are, a TEAM like no other.
Congratulations to all of our participants and thank you for representing Anchor Fitness so well.

Next run is the Jingle Bell run on 12/5. If haven't signed up, please do so ASAP. We would like to have an even better turn out for this run and are only a few registrants away from hitting 100 runners.

Also, we are still looking for sign ups for the Ring in the New Year run on 12/31.

Please see sign up information for all of our runs at the studio.

Remember, these runs are not exclusive to Anchor Fitness members. If you have friends and family that would like to join us and see what we are all about these runs are a great opportunity.

Anchor Fitness Charity Challenge-November 16th through December 12th

Many people have experienced challenges within our community in the area of finances during this past year as we have seen our economy take hits that have affected many of our lives in a very direct way.

It takes one person to give hope, to show support and compassion. Just think what a difference the Anchor Team can make in someone’s life. This holiday season we will be collecting items for The Hub of Senior Services, 1220 Mound Avenue, Racine 53404.
The Hub provides food to our community’s seniors and disabled residents age 55 and over. They are in need of non-perishable food items, paper products (Kleenex, toilet paper, paper toweling, etc.), dish washing and laundry detergents, bar soap, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes, hand lotions, chap stick, etc. The Hub is also requesting a supply of plastic grocery bags. Our contact, Larry Anderson, mentioned that it would be a real treat if they could receive a supply of dinner rolls (the kind that come in a tube and can be baked). If you would like to make a cash donation towards purchasing dinner rolls that would be wonderful! The Hub would need approximately 90 tubes of refrigerated dinner rolls – please give cash donations to either Fluffy, Patti R., or Patty W.

Please be as generous as you can, bring your donations to Anchor Fitness beginning November 16 through December 12.

Thank you in advance for your generosity!

Think "I Can"

When you view something with self-doubt rather than the “I can” attitude you will struggle to succeed. So replace doubt and fear with a strong conviction of certainty and you will succeed. You give away your own power to the food rather than realizing your mind can be stronger. So no matter where you are in your weight loss, rethink it, start today with a different strong life force of real faith of self encouragement, belief, and trust in yourself that this time you will make it.

1 in 3 American Adults are Considered Obese!

Balsamic Roast Chicken Recipe

Ingredients

1 whole chicken, about 4 pounds
1 tablespoon fresh rosemary or 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
1 garlic clove
1 tablespoon olive oil
1/8 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
8 sprigs fresh rosemary
1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
1/2 teaspoon brown sugar
Directions

Preheat the oven to 350 F.
Rinse the chicken inside and out with cold running water. Pat it dry with paper towels.
In a small bowl, mince together the rosemary and garlic. Loosen the chicken skin from the flesh, and rub the flesh with olive oil and then the herb mixture. Sprinkle with black pepper. Put 2 rosemary sprigs into the cavity of the chicken. Truss the chicken.
Place the chicken into a roasting pan and roast for 20 to 25 minutes per pound, about 1 hour and 20 minutes. Whole chicken should cook to an internal temperature of 180 F. Baste frequently with pan juices. When browned and juices run clear, transfer the chicken to a serving platter.

In a small saucepan, combine the balsamic vinegar and brown sugar. Heat until warmed but don't boil.
Carve the chicken and remove the skin. Top the pieces with the vinegar mixture. Garnish with the remaining rosemary sprigs and serve immediately.

According to the American Heart Association-Did you know that egg yolks are one of the few foods that contain all of the fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E and K)? Still, the lowly egg yolk continues to be much maligned, due to its relatively high cholesterol content.
The American Heart Association recommends that adults limit their yolk consumption to no more than four per week.
